Sailing The Blues
Her vital statistics:
On June 23 2013 I finally bought a boat. It was the upshot of a very long time sailing competitively and cruising with old friends. Deep Blues is a Bavaria 50, built 2006 and rigged for short or single handing. She a registered Australian ship Official Number 860844.
The name has a few interpretations.
She is beautiful, quick and sea kindly, designed to sail the oceans of the world. Sailing mates have berated me for the lack of spinnaker gear - this will be remedied once I have the readies. An asymmetric reacher and a number three headsail are on the list. One for fair weather, the other for frightening.
She's spends her time between a finger berth at Coomera during cyclone season and ports north in winter. Unlike most whiteboat powertubs she gets used a lot. She sometimes spends January in Sydney as the harbour-front apartment for the Sydney Festival partying. That's going to happen again.
I am always keen for crew/sailing mates who love the deep blues as much as I do. There's fun to be had. Piss off the lachrymosity and pour the libations - you might fall under a bus tomorrow. If you're an interesting human who learns fast and has a sharp sense of humour you are welcome. People unencumbered by stupidity are welcome make a big fast boat stretch her sea-legs and have a play with the world before the neocons fuck it up for everyone.
